"The return to school of all dangers": François Bayrou expected at the turning point before his press conference

On this day of the political back-to-school season, François Bayrou is scheduled to give a press conference starting at 4 p.m. this Monday, August 25. The September 10 movement, the threat of censure, the explosive 2026 budget... The Prime Minister knows he's expected to be a force to be reckoned with, both by the French people and the opposition—from the National Rally to the French National Front—and within his own camp.
"This is the start of the new school year, fraught with danger for the government and the country. The Prime Minister cannot remain silent," a close associate of François Bayrou told BFMTV.
While "some expect him to repeat the same thing while waiting for death," François Bayrou will in reality "do everything he can to make things happen," a minister loyal to the Prime Minister assured BFMTV on Monday.
Especially since, according to François Bayrou's entourage, not everything in his budget is to be thrown away, as the opposition claims; quite the contrary. Despite the proposal to eliminate public holidays and the expected 40 billion in savings, "the Prime Minister is not proposing an austerity budget," BFMTV assures us.
Once the press conference is over, the next expected flashpoint at Matignon will arrive in just over two weeks, on September 10, the day of the "Block Everything" mobilization supported by the left, starting with LFI. Jean-Luc Mélenchon also called for a "general strike" this weekend.
As this movement approaches, fears are rising within the government. "You never know how something like this might turn out," a close associate of François Bayrou told BFMTV.
